Margot Gotoff - Artist's Statement

As an artist for over thirty years, I was trained at L'Ecole des Beaux Arts, Geneva,Switzerland. I received Masters' Degrees in sculpture from the University of Michigan and University of Cincinnati. I have cast a number of sculptures in cement, resin, and bronze and now, for the past 15 years, work primarily in glass, a material that allows me to incorporate color and light into mysculpture. These pieces, always molded in clay, are essentially figurative and composed in ways suggesting both the Classical sculpture I grew up with in Europe and more contemporary psychological insights.
Most recently, my sculpture has been selected for "The International Nude"and The Biennial of North American Glass, and it is my fifth time being chosen to show in Sculpture in the Park, in Loveland, Colorado, the largest venue for sculpture in the U.S..      My work is in public and private collections in Cincinnati, Palm Beach, Houston, Sarasota, New York, Chicago, Rome and in  the Royal Collection in Saudi Arabia. My work can be seen at Hodgell Gallery, Sarasota; Grand Central Gallery, Palm Beach; Marta Hewett Gallery,Cincinnati; Gallery Vetro, San Antonio. Commissions include portraits for the U.S. Navy League, the founder of Hiil-Rom Industries as well as a seven foot  piece for the City of Denver which is permanently installed at Cherry Creek.
